Osteria best Italian restaurant Shrewsbury

Introducing Osteria Shrewsbury’s New Menu – Come Hungry, Leave Happy

Osteria Shrewsbury invites you to explore a new menu that captures the warmth and richness of real Italian cooking. The new selection includes bold flavours, fresh ingredients, and dishes made to be shared. It brings together traditional recipes and modern touches, all served in a space that feels like an Italian Osteria.

This is more than a menu change. It’s an update to what matters – good food, good people, and good times. The team at Osteria believes in sharing food. That’s the spirit behind everything they do. One big family. That’s how they describe the experience they create for every guest.

Flavour, Freshness, and Family

The new menu at Osteria is full of comfort, flavour, and choice. You’ll find dishes that are simple, satisfying, and beautifully prepared. Each one comes from a place of tradition, using ingredients that let the flavour shine.

Start your meal with something light and fresh. Try the Coccoli – experience the artistry of pizza dough pillows with garlic and herbs, or Parmesan Reggiano and white truffle oil.

If you prefer something really special, order the Porco v4.0. Smoked, then sous vide Chianti wine glazed pork belly, with fried canederli, caramelised figs, vanilla pickled red onions and brown butter gelato.

Handmade Pasta, Fresh Every Day

Pasta is the heart of Italian cooking, and Osteria’s chefs treat it with the respect it deserves. The new menu features a range of handmade pasta dishes that are full of flavour and cooked to perfection.

The Vibo Valentia is rich, spicy and full of depth. Spinach tagliatelle, Nduja spiced sausage, guanciale, pecorino Romano DOP, San Marzano tomatoes, finished with creamy buratta cheese and taralli crumble. It’s one of those dishes that’s both hearty and indulgent.

For something a little more hearty, try the Gnudi Pomodorini E Tartufo. Handmade Tuscan ricotta gnochi, charred heritage cherry tomatoes, basil, Parmesan Reggiano shavings, fresh black truffle and Alba white truffle oil. It’s a dish that wraps you in warmth from the first bite.

The Papparedelle All’ Anatra is another highlight. The Papparedella pasta in a slowly braised Tuscan duck and sausage ragu, hints of garlic, white wine, cherry tomato sauce, juniper berries and Parmesan Reggiano brings a touch of rustic Italian countryside to Shrewsbury.

Seafood from the Southern Coast

Fresh seafood dishes play a big part in Osteria’s new offering. These recipes come from the south of Italy, where cooking is simple and sea-inspired.

One of the standout dishes is Strozzapreti al Frutti di Mare. This Neapolitan favourite features Strozzapreti pasta, mussels, king prawns, squid, octopus, scallops in white wine, cherry tomatoes and bisque. It’s full of bold flavour, and ideal for dipping with warm bread.

Another favourite is the Risotto al Nero di Seppia e Calamari, which pairs risotto with squid ink, tuna flakes, squid and sour butter.

Meat and Classic Comforts

For meat lovers, the 50 Sfumature di Porco is something special. An award winning dish from 2023, it features 24 hour slow cooked and smoked British outdoor rare breed pork belly, accompanied by vanilla pickled red onions, poached and torched saffron pear, whole grain mustard jus, canederli and vegetables.

The Pollo Erbe Aromatiche & Tartufo is another classic. It’s a tender sous vide chicken breast with herb infused brown butter, dauphinoise potatoes, truffle and Parmesan Reggiano. It’s clean, satisfying, and full of texture.

If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent, the Agnello & Polenta Taragna – dry brined 18hr slow cooked lamb shank – is a real treat. Tender, delicious, and full of flavour, this award winning dish (2024) is perfect for enjoying as a main course.

Food Made to Be Shared

The team at Osteria believes food should be shared with friends, with family, and with love. That’s why many of the dishes are perfect for ordering in groups, passing around the table, and enjoying together.

This is food that brings people together, the best of italian food. It’s about conversation, laughter, and time well spent. It’s not fast food. It’s food made with care and meant to be enjoyed slowly.

Visit Any Day of the Week

Osteria is open 7 days a week, with lunch served from 12 to 3pm and dinner from 5 to 10pm. Whether it’s a midweek treat, a weekend dinner, or a lazy lunch, the doors are open and the welcome is warm.

You’ll find Osteria at 58–59 Mardol, right in Shrewsbury. The location is easy to reach, and the setting makes it perfect for anything from a casual bite to a special celebration.

Come Hungry, Leave Happy

This simple phrase captures the experience at Osteria. The food is generous. The flavours are rich. The atmosphere is full of warmth. Every visit feels like a celebration, whether you’re popping in for pasta or spending the night over three courses and wine.

So come hungry. Come with friends. Come with family. Try the new menu and enjoy the dishes that bring a taste of Italy to Shrewsbury. And when you leave, you’ll leave happy – full of good food, great memories, and plans to come back again.

Our new favourite restaurant in Shrewsbury!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Osteria italian restaurant near me in Shrewsbury. We had the sharing starter which was literally overflowing with deliciousness. We couldn’t eat it all and didn’t want to fill up before the main course so accepted the offer of the rest being boxed up to take home. I enjoyed Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare with so many mussels, it was a feast! My husband had the Vibo Valentia with garlic bread. The depth of flavour of everything we ate was immense.

We kind of stumbled across Osteria and didn’t really know what to expect, but based last night’s meal and the friendly atmosphere, we’ll definitely go back! It’s well worth a visit.

Best experience and food I have had in a long time

We just the tastiest dinner at Osteria this evening! I have not eaten such rich and tasty food in a very long time. Up there with the best food in Shrewsbury, I wouldn’t change a thing. The service was amazing, it was an authentic Italian experience and the timings and food were 5* for a very reasonable price. We felt so well looked after and had a fantastic evening. We will be back for more!

Superb all round yet again!

I have reviewed this restaurant a couple of times previous but I feel the need to do it again because the consistency at Osteria really is a credit to how the business is run. The customer Service is second to none and the food is so authentic and of course delicious. Just a quick lunch today and although I only had the lunch deal with a drink it really was fantastic, if you are yet to dine at Osteria. You really are in for a treat when you do!!!!

Can’t believe this wonderful authentic Italian restaurant is in Shrewsbury

This is the 2nd time we have been here in a week. We were so impressed with the service and the food was exceptional. The staff were a delight especially Owen with his cheeky wit and the Chef came out to speak with us personally about a question on one of the dishes. We could tell he was very passionate about about his wonderful skill. We shared some starters and had the award winning pork belly dish which was absolutely wonderful. We have booked again with some more friends and will be regulars from now on. Also the only restaurant my mother fully enjoyed for a long time.

Carrying the torch of Italian food in Shrewsbury

Fantastic as always!! We were a last minute booking and we were seated and served our drinks promptly. The food was fantastic. We shared a selection of delicious starters. My partner had the authentic carbonara and I had the ravioli. We both finished off with a traditional Tiramisu. We look forward to our next visit.

Impromptu Italian…we’ll be back!

Jun 2024 • Couples
Visited on a Monday night and it was still quite busy, which we thought bodes well. Attentive and service, unique menu, and everything was cooked together perfection. This is far from your usual day to day Italian. It is pricey, more like a special occasion kind of place. We will be surprised if there’s a better restaurant in Shrewsbury town centre.
